Ack!

So long since Orlando! How about a quick multiple choice question?

What is the reason for the lack of posts?
A. Laziness
B. To Busy
C. Both

I still have a lot to say about The Gathering, and I’ll probably be writing in small snippets about it in a lot of my next posts, including an open letter to the GBA (General Board of Administration). But, more about that later. Until then, here’s something good to read to get you in the mood: Drury article.

After the convention, I got a cold — I probably caught it from someone attending. It came on Saturday night, and I felt rough Sunday. However, after talking with Scott about his illness (I won’t go into detail…) I felt lucky to only have a cold!

Also, I am no longer a young pastor — or as young as I was…I turned 22 a week ago. Mom asked me if it made me feel older. After thinking about it, I realized that it actually makes me feel younger. I guess I have to act old, and when I realize how old I really am, it makes me feel young. I got to call a friend of mine from Montana who shares the same birthday as me (albeit, a few years difference).

Another interesting event — Ashlee and I adopted a dog. A lady in our church takes care of elderly people, and the lady she was caring for had to go to the nursing home. She had a 6-7 year old Mountain Feist. His name is Jake, and he’s a pretty good dog (despite having bad breath). We’ll see what happens with him — I just don’t want him to make the house smell like dog. Anyhow…

The church is taking on an ambitious project for 2007. At SWU (Southern Wesleyan University), Dave Tolan instituted “Light Bulb Ministry” as a evangelistic outreach for SMF (Student Missions Fellowship). We are “borrowing” the idea, and our goal is to reach every home in our area (Brendletown) with a sleeve of two light bulbs, and the message that Jesus is the Light of the world. I’m excited. Ashlee and I bought Home Depot out of cheap light bulbs Monday evening. The look on the cashier’s face when we rolled up to the register with all our bulbs…it was great!

That’s enough for now, I guess.

*yawn again…*

It’s just after 6pm and we’ve finally arrived. Met up with Scott and got moved into the room. Now, it’s time to get ready for the first rally.

Comments coming soon!

On the Road Again…

January 2nd, 2007

*yawn…*

It is just now 8:00am Tuesday January 2nd, 2007, and I am in the breakfast room of a Fairfield in somewhere near the Georgia / Florida line.

I’m traveling with my parents, headed to The Gathering in Orlando, and I must admit — I am quite excited! (Although, it’s not so exciting to have to leave one’s wife for a week…)

I will be writing often this week about the events, seminars, my thoughts, etc.

So, stay tuned - I’m sure something will be interesting!
